LAMCO LFL® vs Framing Lumber:
-
Drier – LAMCO LFL® is 14% or less vs lumber @ 19% or less.
-
Longer spans – LAMCO LFL® out spans even select grades. Increases the joist spacing , uses less wood and increases the space available for insulation.
-
Straighter – LAMCO LFL® is made in a factory environment and is cut and milled into guaranteed straight pieces.
-
Stronger – LAMCO LFL® 1.6E is our “entry level” product and is stronger than framing lumber. Replace any LVL or composite products with our higher strength grades.
-
Rip it – You can rip LAMCO LFL® to your desired depth (2-1/2” minimum) without compromising the structural values. ( Reference TER 1211-01 and TER 1401-01, page 8, chapter 9.3.8).
-
Holes - LAMCO LFL® products can be drilled or have circular holes cut up to 1/3 the depth of joist (hole size dependant on hole location and load on member).
LAMCO LFL® vs I-Joist & Floor Truss
-
Performance - LAMCO LFL® solid wood technology reduces floor vibration (vs I-Joist) for better performance and comfort.
-
Work with Uniform or Off-Set Point Loading - LAMCO LFL® solid wood technology carries higher uniform loads than comparable I-Joists and does not normally require additional reinforcement to support “off-set point loads” from above or ”load bearing cantilevers“ like floor trusses and I-Joists.
-
Best for Cantilevers - do not require additional blocking.
-
More 'Job Site Friendly' than floor trusses if you need to cut on site, etc...
-
FIRE CODE Requirements - Unlike I-Joists and Floor Trusses, LAMCO LFL® Solid engineered wood joists do not require sheetrock ceilings in basements as a fire guard or sprinkler systems. Imagine the savings on the total job!
